Jerome S. Handler (jh3v at virginia.edu), Senior Scholar at the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities, is Professor Emeritus of Anthropology and Black American Studies, Southern Illinois University (Carbondale). A sociocultural anthropologist and ethnohistorian, he specializes in the early African Diaspora in the New World and Caribbean slavery.

Michael L. Tuite Jr. (mlt3a at virginia.edu) was Head of the Digital Media Lab and Assistant Director, Robertson Media Center at the University of Virginia Library where he specialized in the development of digital cultural resource collections.
