Titled "A Negro smoking a pipe." Oil painting of unidentified person by unidentified artist; area unknown. Subject is smoking a long stemmed white clay pipe, a very common item throughout the New World colonies. CWF identifies the painting as "English," but the location of the painting is not given in the CWF files (courtesy of Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, image DS 91-168).
