This piece was incredibly fun to make. It was by far the most complex and time consuming to complete, consisting of 3 minutes of 20 different tracks. I really wanted to make a diversified sound with many facets. I didn?t want to feel like something was missing. In the piece, I used garage band loops, recordings from online sound sources, and I recorded five of the tracks myself. With my computer microphone, I recorded vocals, drumming on paperback books, crunching of plastic to imitate walking, and pure noise. I really enjoyed being able to incorporate these recordings into the song. I also used frequency, audacity, and soundhack to manipulate sounds.
The song begins with two people escaping from an undisclosed location. It seemed like a good fit for the rest of the song. From this point on, a rock song begins to form with shades of electronica, and a lot of nature sounds. The song progresses by adding more and more sounds until the breakdown when the guitars are silenced. The song then picks up again, but only for a short time, and then finishes strongly. |
