Caption, "Boutique de la Rue du Val-Longo"; shows slaves in a building on the street of the slave market in Rio de Janeiro; adults ranged along benches, children playing on floor; two Europeans present. The engravings in this book were taken from drawings made by Debret during his residence in Brazil from 1816 to 1831.
