The images are arranged in eighteen categories. These categories serve as rough guides to the contents of the collection, but the categories are not mutually exclusive. For example, an image categorized under "marketing" may also contain images of "free people of color," and an image found under "urban scenes" may also contain materials appropriate to the category of "miscellaneous occupations."
