Email Announcement and Agenda:
Greetings Mobile Networkers-
Our next Mobile Networking interest group meeting will be held next week on Tuesday 8 December from 12-1:30 in Clemons 201. At our last gathering back in October we featured a forum for spontaneous presentations of mobile technologies from attendees that we called the Mobile Blast. During the Blast, participants were encouraged to show off or discuss any aspect of mobile technology that they found useful or interesting. In keeping with the spirit of “show and tell,” next week’s meeting will be solely devoted to the Mobile Blast. To get us started, some of the topics of discussion will include:
PICO PROJECTORS and MOBILE PROJECTION
Can you carry around a presentation in your pocket? We’ll take a look at some of the possibilities.
LIVE SCRIBE
Imagine your pen and notepad replacing your laptop. Live Scribe technology strives to do this and more. Participate in the Live Scribe demonstration with your questions and experiences regarding Live Scribe technology.
GOOGLE VOICE
Do you have questions about using Google Voice? Bring your questions with you! Have you experienced Google Voice? Come share your experiences!
MOTOROLA DROID
We’ll take a look at the latest Google Android enabled device. Got one? Bring it along and give us your take on it.
WINDOWS MOBILE 6.5
And you thought Windows Mobile was dead. We’ll take a look a the newest user interface for Windows Mobile. Do you use Windows Mobile? Tell us what you think of it as well.
MUG
We’ll see a presentation from the UVA Mobile User Group sponsored by the Health Sciences Library. Check out their blog at http://blog.hsl.virginia.edu/mug/.
These are just some of the topics we have lined up for now. Do you have something to talk about as well? Well then bring it on! Presentations can be on the fly, no planning necessary and demo time can be anywhere from 1-15 minutes, or whatever it takes – we’re flexible. We’ll provide the space, presentation equipment and forum. We’ll even have an overhead document projector to show off mobile devices in real-time action. Just bring your mobile technology interests along and discuss them with the group. Light snacks provided – maybe even some Christmas cookies …
